I had a great time here- as a solo traveler it was super social and easy to meet people. The lounge area is the coolest I have seen and the food is delicious and affordable. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the showers have great water pressure. There is a rabbit, dog, cat, turtles and birds (quail) all over which I also loveeeed.

“Great Hostel better location”

Stayed here for 3 nights, Beds are very nice and the rooms very spacious. The staff were very helpful. The best location for a hostel smack bang in the heart of the city. Bathrooms were very clean and also the kitchen was very well maintained

Just wanted basic accommodation for two of us for two nights. Delighted to find that it met our needs so well. It seems well-managed. Its bright and decent. Kitchen available for self-catering. AC in room meant that we slept fine during this record-breaking heat-wave. Rooms are basic but clean and comfortable. Shared bathrooms are perfectly adequate. Showers good. You can sit by reception to read or watch TV Location for central Madrid is perfect. Adjacent to Opera Metro station and a short walk from Sol. What is the point of paying for anything more: You can't take it with you when you leave !!

“Fine Hostel, but Horrendous Customer Service”

I stayed at Los Amigos in a VIP room with my fiancee for two nights in February 2019. The room was "VIP" meaning it had a queen-sized mattress, a small, balcony, and its own bathroom. It was like a regular hotel in that sense -- everything was quite standard if you've stayed in a hotel, and the room was enjoyable and clean. We didn't have any issues with the rooms, but the customer service just downright awful. The first night went fine, but on the evening of the second night, cigarette smoke started coming into the room. We realize that smoking culture is huge in Spain, so that's fine, but neither my fiancee or I smoke, and we weren't willing to tolerate the smell for the entire evening in our sleeping quarters. We politely informed the hotel staff who pretty much did nothing and didn't know what to do. After the second we told them about the persisting issue, we were told that the staff member called the owner who would be in the next morning, the date of our check out. The hostel was also booked to capacity, so changing rooms wasn't an option. For the time being we simply slept with the balcony door open (with temperatures hovering at ~30 degrees overnight). The next day, as we were returning the keys to check out, we brought the issue up with the owner and were bluntly told that smelling another person's cigarette smell through our vents was impossible because the vents aren't inter-connected. Well, what else was there to discuss? We weren't making up a smell, and it could be clearly and potently smelled right underneath the air vents, but we couldn't prove it to him, so we just left it at that. For that singular reason, I would only give this hostel two stars. The VIP rooms are fine, but management is completely incompetent and will not lift a finger to help.
