“Lovely 2* in a quiet little village on seafront”

We arrived at Xuroy via car and we were impressed it had its own car park , we asked about a sea view and it was €210 per week so we declined and got a room over the rear courtyard facing the car park. The room was very tiny and we didn’t even have a chair to sit inside on ( the room was too small to accommodate any) room extremely clean, white walls a wardrobe a shelf unit and a small shelf next to each bed. No drawers no tv no dressing table no fridge no air conditioning no phone , roomy balcony with two plastic chairs and a plastic table . I thought For a 2 star it was still very nice but I really struggled with no air conditioning and the ceiling fan in the room just blew around the hot air ! The restaurant was lovely and had a small choice but always beautifully cooked and I’d definitely say it was quality over quantity. We were very happy with this ( apart from fries every night and I don’t eat them) the meat fish and salads were wonderful though, and bonus the restaurant had air con. No fried eggs for breakfast and breakfast felt repetitive with no sauces . Lunches would be a problem if you didn’t have a car as there was nowhere near did sandwiches and the Xuroy bar was very expensive, we ate at nearby Picollo Mundo who served a varied 3 course special for €15, super bargain and beautiful. We had an amazing time in the Xuroy and loved the pool ( late opening at 10am) and the shallow waters with their abundance of little fish swimming around, would we return? Yes but not in high season and with the weather getting warmer this year in August I am glad we are home . Please note reception is very rarely manned and has no one at night, if you leave on an early flight you have to give safe key in a day early so probably easier to pay for just 6 nights I still think it’s extremely great value , if you don’t mind overheating your onto a winner

I have been going to Hotel Xuroy for about 11 years. This time, although still a lovely place to chill out, cut backs showed. No one on reception to greet any guest. No sign to say go to bar to check in. For the first time ever our room was not ready. But as the week progressed it seemed only two cleaners. They do a brilliant job making sure cleanliness is of a high standard. The waiters seemed very rushed. It's the little things like sun beds weren't put back until following morning. No half board anymore. Snd rumour has it they are thinking towards families staying there. There is nothing there. That it is the beauty of this hotel. Folk return year after year which says alot for a nice quiet relaxing holiday. Personally to invite families is a huge mistake. Breakfast this time was the same every day. Please Hotel Xuroy put your faith in those that return year after year. There is a perfectly good reason for that. You have a lovely hotel as it is. Please don't make it commercialised.

We booked as a late deal for a week and have to say it looked exactly as it did in the brochure - Beautiful with great location, reception staff was friendly and helpful when they were available, pool area opened at 10am was nice but sunbeds not comfy and lots are actually broken, breakfast was good, Dinner was hit/miss but that's just what I thought, Waiters were also hit/miss in dinning room, You have to pay for Water to have with your dinner 3 euro and you have to pay for it upfront, if you didn't drink your wine it could be kept for the next day, Our Room was fresh and clean(Cleaner very good) but ceiling fan and Standing fan were not enough to cool the room - deffo requiring Air Con, didn't expect a fridge (As only 2*) but would have helped! The Bar/Restaurant down stairs had beautiful outlooks but once again i found the staff just average with overpriced food & Drink, We did enjoy most of our holiday and found the place to be very relaxing with a great location. Sorry but I wouldnt go back to Xuroy - I couldn't live without Air-Con/Fridge for more than a day. Did meet some nice guest's though and the village itself was beautiful.
