We stayed three nights for a family wedding. I generally like HIX properties - I equate them to Hampton Inns and they are a much better value for the dollar. The hotel was clean and pleasant. It is hidden away in a terrible location. You'll feel like you're driving through a maze to get to the location. Be warned that the parking lot does NOT circle the building. I especially like the abundance of carts in the lobby! The breakfast buffet had the normal HIX offerings. Satisfying, but nothing to write home about. Our room was clean and well appointed. The beds were very comfy. While we were generally pleased with our room (I'd stay there again), there were several shortcoming. The bottom line is that it looked as if the engineering/maintenance staff had been in our room for a while. Here are the things we found needing attention: - The bathroom sink faucet was very loose. It looks like the mounting nut needs to be tightened. The faucet wobbled and rocked every time we used it. - The bathtub knob was also very loose. Its tightening screw needed tightening in a bad way. - The toilet lid was cracked. I have mixed feeling about this issue. I was happy to see it had been glued back together and avoided having the whole thing go to the landfill. Still... - The hair drier was missing the safety screen on the back end. As a result, it kept sucking hair into the unit. My daughter lost a few inches of hair due to this beast! - The desk lamp wouldn't turn off at night. It stayed in a low illumination mode and flickered all night. The only solution was to unplug it. - There was a broken USB plug between the beds. Instead of two plugs, we had just one. We had to charge a second phone on the stand by the TV. - The door is far from soundproof. If anyone is talking in the hallway, it is if the door is open. There was a group with many small children in two rooms across from our room and they ran back and forth between the rooms all night. Given how little soundproofing there is in the rooms, make sure you get a room far away from the elevator. Otherwise, you'll be hearing ding ding ding all night long.
