“Most enjoyable holiday”

Fabulous Hotel, such lovely rooms built. Amazing views, enough food to sink a ship! Nothing is too much trouble for the welcoming happy staff and we enjoyed many of their shows. Enough sunbeds for everyone and lying around the pool was just bliss. We are definitely booking for next year. I would thoroughly recommend this resort.

“Not a 5* hotel - would not recommend for young families.”

Checked in and was given a room on the 6th floor just off reception, horrible view of the car park and not an ideal location with a toddler. Had requested a travel cot prior to arrival, this was not in the room on arrival. A couple of hours later there was a leak coming from the ceiling, in all fairness staff responded quickly and we asked to move. They asked which area we wanted to be in and helped us move. The new room was better facing the children’s pool. I do not feel this hotel is 5*, mainly the food lets it down. The buffet is very repetitive, especially at lunch time. The evening buffet does not open until 6:30pm which is a little bit late for our toddler in a family/child friendly hotel. We went all inclusive and therefore got 3 La carte meals included, I booked them all on arrival day and all the time available were very late (9:15pm) again not ideal with a toddler. We went to the steak house and the food was very poor, partner had a burger which was completely pink. Sent back 3 times and eventually just walked out. The Italian was not much better, poor quality food. Food at the pool bar uncovered and covered in flies. The evening entertainment is ok. Mini disco for kids does not start till 8pm which again I feel is a bit late. We wondered why the pools were always empty and realised when we got in them that they were absolutely freezing cold apart from the kids pool. The lifts are terrible, we got in one and it kept going up and then dropping slightly over and over which was terrifying! Spoke to others that this had also happened too. Have seen other reviews re wait times for drinks but this was not an issue for us. Always served quickly in the piano bar and all other areas. Drinks were high quality and branded. Overall I would not recommend or return, not a 5* at all. I did raise these issues with the hotel but was just told that they were sorry and would feedback to improve but that doesn’t help us when we’ve paid a lot of money.

We are here on day 4 of a 5 night stay. We paid for quite an expensive upgrade, to a sea view room. The room is quite large 3112. The view out to sea and across to Fuerturventura is a bonus with your morning coffee. The room is quite tired. The floor in the bathroom has lifted by the sink, which has caused a few stubbed toes. The hotel has been repairing a pool area near to our room. We have noticed on our walk to the main area (a bit of a trot for anyone not very mobile), that there are lots of areas in need of repair. Lots of broken floor tiles. Quite dangerous, especially for young children running around. The stair rail going down the stairs from our room is extremely loose, as I found last night when I took hold of it. Tiles on the stairs are cracked and chipped. Public toilets around the hotel, not particularly clean. All in all the hotel needs some investment. We are on HB and we’re able to book in their restaurant called La Dolce Vita on Friday evening. The starter Tomato Bruscetta (my favourite) was awful. Stale tasting bread, not charred in anyway and a couple of bits of tomato!! We left it and told the staff when he collected the plate, we got a shrug. The Lemon sorbet desert was a liquid of lemon and mint in a small champagne flute!! On a plus note - The staff have been very helpful and very hard working. My main meal at La Dolce Vita was delicious - blue cheese sauce, caramelised pear on penne. The buffet restaurant food has been excellent and the atmosphere in there has been relaxed. Staff in there, hard working and very helpful. We will stick to that. They provide entertainment in the main bar area in the evening. All in all, a nice enough but tired hotel, that could be so much more. .. In fact I've stayed in better 4 star hotels. I used to stay here 10+ years ago and it's definitely gone downhill despite having gained a star. It has its good points but there are way too many niggles for me to want to come back. The good Check in (late evening) was quick and efficient and we were taken to our rooms on a buggy. All good. Some of the food is very good. Asian restaurant particularly was very good. Drinks are of a very good standard. Very drinkable wine, and lots of branded spirits to choose from. The grounds and views from the hotel are beautiful. The gardens are well maintained. The reception area is impressive and worthy of a 5 star hotel. Some of the staff are lovely and very hard working, doing their best despite there not being enough of them. Bistro bar for lunch is lovely - food and service was excellent. The bad Let's start with the drinks service in the piano bar. Absolutely terrible. You're not allowed to go to the bar and order, but prepare to wait for up to 45 minutes for table service. Similarly at lunch, if you want a second drink then prepare to ask at least 3 people. It's like they've been trained to save money by limiting the amount of drinks that guests can order. Buffet food isn't great - overcooked meat & fish. Barely warm food. Not a great salad selection. Pool bar food isn't kept warm and I saw undercooked chicken one day, which someone had pointed out to a member of staff but they still left it out. The standard of cleanliness in the hotel is not acceptable. Shared areas are never cleaned as far as I can see. Room cleaning is non existent. They will change your towels and make your bed but that's about it. We didn't even get our bins emptied, and toilet roll was never replaced. Dirty plates in the restaurants. Shared toilets quite often didn't have toilet roll, and there are not enough of them. One ladies toilet to service the whole pool area. Italian restaurant was poor - soggy pizza and badly cooked pasta. Steakhouse only had one steak on the menu. Burgers were good but the quesadillas were just floppy tortillas with barely any filling and smothered in orange squirty cheese. The rooms are shabby with broken furniture. Our wardrobe door was broken, and the shower leaked all over the bathroom floor. Aircon is very poor, I suspect it's centrally controlled despite there being a thermostat in the rooms. Broken steps in the grounds and uneven floors. My friend tripped on the step and really hurt herself. It's a shame because this hotel used to be lovely but I'm sorry to say we won't be back.
