Great central location right on Plaza Catalunya, so very convenient for the old town and metro lines. We were there for 4 nights in room 105 which had all the usual amenities you'd expect. That room has an outside area with loungers/sunshade etc, for getting some fresh air, but there are taller buildings surrounding, so there were no views to speak of. Staff were friendly, always smiling and helpful. Breakfast was a very nice continental buffet with added a la carte hot dishes. The public areas are quite quirky as you'd expect for a boutique hotel with interesting decoration in the restaurant and bar area. There's free coffee/tea and biscuits during the afternoon in the lounge area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, and would recommend it if you are looking for a smaller interesting hotel outside of the main international brands.

“10/10 stay”

This hotel is a hidden gem in Barcelona! It is on the perfect street for walking downtown. The two ladies at the front desk were SO sweet. Truly they made the hotel stay a 10/10. They were so helpful with anything we needed. I will be staying here again.

“Three stars for a three star.”

As a H10 client I was a bit disappointed with this hotel. I was unable to book the H10 Metropolitan so settled for the Plaza Catalunya. This is very much a 3 star hotel situated in an old building, obviously limiting the scope for improvement. The foyer is unimpressive and the lift is small and antiquated. I used the stairs more than the lift. The rooms are small, dark and not very well appointed. There was no drawer space in the room, not even at the bedside. The hanging space, however, was sufficient. To safely use the provided kettle involved moving a table nearer to the socket. A longer lead would have been ideal. The 'lounge area' was very small containing the sofa bed and table with the coffee machine, etc. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean, however, in several areas the wallpaper was peeling off the wall. The bathroom, again was clean. The main problem here was the lack of hot water in the morning. Cold showers taken on 2 or 3 occasions. I was informed by reception "it's an old building, just keep the tap running for several minutes and it should come through" which isn't really practical or eco-friendly. It didn't work in any event. My room was at the rear of the hotel, on an upper flour, so no noise from the Plaza and very little noise from other guests. The bar is small and not open until late afternoon. The 'outside' terrace is also small and dark, enclosed on 4 sides. With the fairy lights it reminded me of a 'Santa's grotto'. A small group were enjoying a drink in the area, but I rushed my drink because I felt I was intruding, hearing every word spoken. Fortunately this hotel is very near to the Metropolitan and I spent most of my relaxation there, using the bar, terrace and other facilities. The Plaza Catalunya was for sleeping only. The only saving grace for this hotel is the staff. Although young, and admittedly new to hospitality, they were friendly and were helpful as best they could. A mix-up over advanced check-in was sorted swiftly and my 'welcome drink', not offered, was provided later in the day. Ideally, this hotel is suited for those requiring overnight accommodation pre and post-cruise. For others, there is far better value in Barcelona.
