The hotel is nice and the buffet breakfast was delicious with a wide variety of food to offer. Our room had a very comfortable bed with great amenities. The hotel seems to not be completely set-up for international tourists. There was no tourist information or guide given about the close metro station or local area. If you are an overseas tourist you may want to stay at a more established international hotel.

I am an Accor Platinum member. This is my first time staying at the sofitel Beijing Central Hotel. The room I booked was a Luxury Club Room. Though I am a Platinum member, I did not have room upgrade, any welcome amenities or even the welcome drink. On the next day, I asked the Reception why Unlike other sofitel, this hotel had no offer of any welcome treatments to the Platinum Member. As requested, the hotel arranged me a fruit plate and a welcome drink coupon. Welcome drinks were limited to soft drink, coffee or tea. Better than none During my stay, I note that almost all the hotel guests were the local Chinese people or from other Provinces, The restaurant was fully crowded for breakfast. The room was spacious and clean, bed comfortable. Afteralll, I was not fully satisfied with the Platinum member treatment without getting room upgrade. I therefore canceled another 3-night booking.I moved to Fairmont Hotel and my room got upgraded to a Junior Suite. Not only because of room upgrade, Fairmont is a higher class hotel and cost effective. Without doubt, Fairmont will definitely be my cup of tea upon my next visit to Beijing. During the couple of days in Sofitel, I dined in for breakfast and lunch. I would also like to mention in particular Jimmy Wang and Penny of the hotel restaurant and Liu Yi Chen of the Chinese Restaurant. I fully appreciate their excellent service. They were nice, helpful and professional. I should appreciate it if the hotel management would convey my thanks and regards to them

Service was excellent, as would be expected from Sofitel. Staff were accommodating and professional and spoke good English. Service was excellent, as would be expected from Sofitel. Staff were accommodating and professional and spoke good English. What let this hotel down is the dated and garish decor that was a bit of a put off. My room was large, but showing signs of wear and tear. The door to the mini fridge would not close properly and there were holes in walls where previous items had been fixed and later removed. Unusual choice of furnishings that didn’t match and alarmingly a chaise lounge with some very dubious stains and cigarette burns. It was disappointing given the other Sofitels I’ve stayed in have been stylish and well decorated. Breakfast was chaos, not enough tables for number of guests. Club access came with my room, though it wasn’t to the standard I expected. Wine available, but no wine glasses, was given a large water glass instead and the range of snacks was poor. The service and the location are the only things this hotel has going for it. It needs a good redecoration!
