“Nice Place to Stay.”

We have stayed at The Grand Forks Lodge (formerly, Expressway Suites) several times before. The Alerus Center is across the street, and it is convenient to UND. Plenty of free parking is available. We would highly recommend it when you're in Grand Forks.

The price was approximately $100 a night, which was great for a clean room with two comfortable queen size beds, a pull out sofa (we didn’t use) and a small complementary breakfast. The price was approximately $100 a night, which was great for a clean room with two comfortable queen size beds, a pull out sofa (we didn’t use) and a small complementary breakfast. They had fresh coffee around the clock. The fitness area, indoor pool and Jacuzzi was a nice touch, but was very popular and crowded.- so we ended up not going. The staff is friendly and is happy to give you as many clean towels and toiletries as you need as long as you don’t need housekeeping once every three or four days.. We stayed six nights and never requested housekeeping. The rooms had a nice refrigerator and microwave. The windows opened enough where you could get some fresh air if you wanted. The laundry facility was only $2.50 a load. Unfortunately, the only drawback was that other guests were smoking, tobacco and marijuana, and you could smell it down the halls and in the elevator’s. We would stay here again .

“Eh.....”

This hotel is just, Eh. It's under construction, so the lobby is just a big pile of flooring, etc. Room was ok, big and clean. Shower didn't turn on all the way so water pressure was bad. Bed was uncomfortable. And we paid over $200 because it was a Saturday. Definitely better places in Grand Forks… more

Bed was uncomfortable. And we paid over $200 because it was a Saturday. Definitely better places in Grand Forks to stay in my opinion. Maybe it will be nicer after they're done updating it.

“Interesting customer service”

We were visiting family in town and found this a convenient and affordable place to stay. We didn’t use the pool but if you had kids with you, I’m sure they would love it. The breakfast with okay, pretty typical hotel fare and free, so hard to find fault with that. The room itself was fine, had a microwave and a fridge, which were nice to have. Our biggest hiccup was that we rolled in, hot and tired, at 5:30pm, ready to shower and change. Even though check-in was 3pm, the woman at the front desk told us that “we don’t have any rooms with keys available.” 🤔 After asking her to clarify that, she said that they only had one cleaning person and so the manager was helping clean rooms. I asked her when our room might be ready, she said that they were cleaning the rooms on the left side first… “and that’s not your side.” 🤔 So, once we established that they had been woefully understaffed for three days and she didn’t know when the room would be ready, I asked her if we could perhaps get a discount on the room, since it was not ready at check-in and we hadn’t been notified that there would be a problem. She said she’d have to ask the manager and added, “everyone else has been much more understanding than you.” We then offered to take a different room (don’t need a king, don’t need a sofa, etc.) She said she’d check. While we waited on the sofas in the entryway, she clicked on her keyboard but gave no updates. After about 20 minutes, she said the room was ready. We never talked to a manager, got a discount or even heard one “I’m sorry,” but we got a room and that’s really what we wanted. I’ve just never been made to feel bad for wanting to check into the room that I paid for, 3 hours after check-in.
