We loved the Estival Centurion Playa, we were welcomed on our arrival by friendly helpful receptionist, we did have to wait until 14:00 for our room but this wasn't a problem we waited around the pool area. we asked for a sea view when booking and we were happy that we were given a room (2016) on the 2nd floor over looking the sea. We found the hotel to be very clean, our room cleaned every day and fresh bedding most days. The food and choices for breakfast and evening meal was exceptional. The Estival Centurion Playa is situated in a quieter area of Cambrils, a few supermarkets, chemist, bars, the plana across the road, £10 euros for 10 bus trips then only £6 euros to top up for another 10 trips, ( if your a couple or family you can use the one card just tap for each person). Bike hire from the hotel. A 20 minute walk on the prom (right out of the back gate) will take you to the harbour, restaurants, cafes and many shops. A short bus ride through Salou to La Pineda takes you to a lovely beach area with a bay that is shallow you can walk out, safe for children, great for snorkelling. The bus will take you into Tarragona, a coastal city worth a visit. We had a ride to Reus town, Monday market day, stone buildings and quaint little side streets.

We chose the hotel based on our tick list of requirements and the reviews we'd read and it did not disappoint. It is clear why people return year on year. The hotel is spacious and modern, maintained well and clean throughout. The staff are efficient, friendly and always on hand. We had originally planned B&B but the half board option was so cheap we added it on. Our experience of large numbers of people accessing a buffet service in hotels hasn't been good in the past, but the Estival Centurian Playa bucks the trend. The choice and quality of food was so good we ate in the hotel every evening. Even going down later in the service, the choice remained varied and hot. As many have said, located halfway between Salou (very busy and lively, Irish bars and Burger Kings) and Cambrils (harbour, quaint, old town and Michelin starred restaurants) the area around the hotel is quiet, but both resorts are walkable in 30 mins or 10mins by regular bus service. There is a small supermarket, a pharmacy and travel shop across the road and two very good beach bars close by. We also took a bus direct to Tarragona and would recommend. A sizeable city with lots of Roman history and amphitheatre as well as shops, bars and restaurants. Do not however bother with the Yellow Train around town. The pool area is quite small, and not too many beds with sun and shade options together which we like, but there were always some beds available. We chose to go to the beach on the hottest sunny days - a cost of 5Euros per bed and an extra 10Euros for beds under the shades. We booked quite late and had a room on the front of the hotel facing the road. The room itself was spacious enough for two, the beds firm but comfortable and the bathroom a good size with a great shower. A fridge and kettle provided - take your own Teabags and Coffee as the options in the supermarket were limited. Being on the front, we did not get any sun on our balcony and the noise from the hotel opposite in the evenings was a little intrusive at times - but with the doors closed this wasn't an issue for us. All said, other than a better appointed room (if going again we'd book earlier and request a side room) and more sunbeds in the sun with umbrellas - I have yet to find a hotel where this is perfect - our experience at the Estival Centurian Playa was perfect and worthy of our 5 stars

“great hotel”

are 3rd time at this lovely hotel staff are brilliant the chef that cooks the meats does it exactly as my wife wanted every day rooms are kept lovely and clean .. there is a free sauna jaquzzi and steam room use it as much as u like.. beer prices are good are only complaint is the pool is so cold … more

“Wouldn't return to this hotel”

We stayed here end of August 2024 as a family split between 2 rooms. Arrived mid morning via Tui but were unable to check into our rooms until gone 16:30 due to delays with cleaning the rooms we were told. We were able to store our luggage in a side room but the delays with the room were really disappointing. Rooms themselves were fairly clean and well maintained. Cleaned daily by housekeeping. Our rooms were on the outer side of the hotel and not facing the pool. We found that every night there was an absolute awful stench of sewerage on both of our balconies which put us off sitting out in the evenings. The pool was fairly small (looks bigger in the pictures) in comparison with the number of rooms in the hotel. The pool was also outlined with lots of trees and the pool ended up full of leaves which put me off. People queued up early morning to get their loungers. There were not enough loungers in the sun on any day during our holiday so we ended up going to the beach. The beach loungers had to be paid for so we spent quite a lot of money on loungers. The beach is also quite a gritty beach but tolerable. The food was as you'd expect from hotel buffet food, we didn't go hungry but it became quite mundane eating the same foods. We rented some bicycles and rode along the bike paths into Salou and back to Cambrills harbour. This was a good facility for the hotel to have and I would recommend doing this if able. We wouldn't return to this hotel due to the sewerage stench (which reading other previous reviews seems to be an ongoing unredolved problem) and the relatively small pool.
