“A little dated but wonderful”

On arrival the hotel is a little surprising in its presentation and the rooms also reflect the same image but don't be put off. All of the staff are wonderful. They just can not do enough for you and they do make you feel very special and very welcome. The service and quality of breakfast is great and I would defy anyone to find fault in any way. The hotel is quirky but very clean with towels changed regularly within the week. Situated about 15 minutes to 20 minutes walk to Budva old town this place is perfect for the older, fitter person and there is free parking for your hire car. If you want so something very different then I would highly recommend the Dubrava.

Although the Dubrava will not suit everyone, it was clean, combatable & the staff went out there way to make our stay enjoyable. We had the breakfasts at the hotel that were lovely. Although the Dubrava will not suit everyone, it was clean, combatable & the staff went out there way to make our stay enjoyable. We had the breakfasts at the hotel that were lovely. If you want Sky sports, kids clubs a lively atmosphere & staff licking up to you this is not the place for you ! and if you don't like a stroll through the town to the very nice beach/marina/old town then this again is not the place for you. It very much suited us as a couple in there 50's and we plan to return next year.

Despite all the rave reviews, this hotel didn’t live up to expectations for us sadly and we’re not picky travellers by any means and normally very positive about anywhere we stay but we found it difficult to be positive about this place. The location wasn’t great – it was in a non-descript residential area on a busy main road quite a long walk from the old town and promenade, and not a very pleasant walk as it was along very busy noisy main roads where drivers don’t want to let you cross at pedestrian crossings and try to mow you down on the pavement!! The room was very small and cramped, and the antiquated a/c unit was worse than useless – in mid 30’s heat it did absolutely nothing to cool the room so we had very uncomfortable sleepless nights in a stifling room which resembled a sauna. The hotel is beautiful – set in stunning grounds but is lacking in facilities and they could offer so much more given it’s distance from the main town. The large reception area was deserted all the time and just contained tables set up with travel rep’s information – a drinks machine at least would’ve been welcome. There wasn’t any opportunity to even get a cup of tea/coffee and no drink making facilities in the room. The dining area had a bar but every time we walked past the gate was always locked!! The rooms don’t have safes which is a basic requirement – there is a safe in reception you can use but you have to log all the contents with them so we couldn’t be bothered with the hassle and just carried our valuables with us all holiday. The breakfast staff’s English is very limited so it was difficult to make ourselves understood at times (something we found throughout the whole of Budva). The hotel for us seemed to lack any atmosphere somehow and didn’t have a welcoming feel - at times it felt like we were unwanted guests creeping around in someone’s home!! One of the reception staff came across as quite rude to us. She told us off for taking the room key with us to the pool even though that rule hadn’t been explained to us, and after that she practically rugby-tackled us each time we headed for the door to take the key off us and never cracked a smile once – clearly we had upset her by flouting the rules!! The pool area is stunning – surrounded by olive trees, and would’ve been lovely and peaceful except for a dog in an adjoining residential property which felt the need to bark very loud and long for no reason constantly every single day!! Strangely, despite 30-deg heat, the pool never warmed up and wasn’t just cold but like getting in a bath of ice!! You can hear a lot of traffic noise from the hotel so I would recommend asking for a room away from the road if this bothers you. There is a fridge in the room thankfully and there are very cheap local supermarkets nearby – the only plus points. On the whole, very disappointing and the lack of comfort and relaxation spoilt our enjoyment of the holiday somewhat.
