This place is really well-run, well-staffed and from what I could tell - well trained/experienced. Rooms were very clean, housekeeping did a great job. Front desk very friendly and helpful --- even have quarters if you want to use the laundry on the 2nd floor (and the machines are well-maintained and newer, unlike at some hotels). We used the very nice pool, the outside bar had good drinks, the restaurant was very reasonably priced and good for breakfast. Our planning was pretty short-term and during spring break, so we were unable to get a split charter fishing excursion -- HOWEVER - it was not due to lack of effort by the concierge, Steve M, who really made an effort even after his workday was over, Trips were full plus weather was questionabl so some were being canceled...but the effort by Steve is greatly appreciated, we'll try next time. The Doubletree also has a shuttle to the Duval area every hour, which is really nice. While it's not walking distance to Duval/Old Town, the location does have its advantages -- five minutes drive from the airport and about that for Smathers beach. Good place to stay.

“Nice resort”

We stayed at the DoubleTree for our recent KeyWest visit. The hotel is very nice and clean, the rooms are not large but how much time do you spend in your room. There is a nice bar and restaurant with a nice outside patio area overlooking the pool. We didn’t take advantage of the pool this visit.... more

We stayed at the DoubleTree for our recent KeyWest visit. The hotel is very nice and clean, the rooms are not large but how much time do you spend in your room. There is a nice bar and restaurant with a nice outside patio area overlooking the pool. We didn’t take advantage of the pool this visit. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a little distance from the lively part of KeyWest, so if you want to be in the action this might not be the place for you. We rented a golf cart to get around and it was very easy to get where you wanted to go

“Pleasant stay, Saturday evening through Tuesday morning”

Hotel accommodations (room and amenities) all were satisfactory. At "Gumbo Limbo" (outside bar on Osprey Verandah), the team of bartenders: Billy "the Greek", David, and their support staff were all phenomenal, and each went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Our stay encompassed three nights (arrive Saturday, check-in at 4PM-depart Tuesday, check-out at 11AM), and the names and faces of hotel personnel became quickly familiar (which is a good thing!). Smiles all around. Breakfast (order from menu, $13-$15) at hotel restaurant was amazing. We ordered from menu, and restaurant also has full buffet ($18.95). Shuttle from hotel to downtown Key West and return was timely, prompt, (every hour on the hour from 8A-11P). Shuttle from downtown KeyWest to hotel picks up at 20 minutes after the hour. Later shuttle returns experience full-to-capacity transportation, and we learned DoubleTree Resort by Hilton at Grand Key has two (2) shuttle buses handling the to/from routes. (One shuttle bus is extremely small.) We were in downtown Key West for Saturday night (St. Patrick's Day Eve), and Sunday night (St. Patrick's Day evening). The avenues and streets were hopping! The 'neighborhood' quieted down noticeably and considerably on Monday evening. Colorful, diverse, and fun for all ages. We will plan a return visit.

Overall this hotel is very good, it is just tired and needs updating. Pros: -Away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town -Convenient shuttle to Old Town and the Beach. Overall this hotel is very good, it is just tired and needs updating. Pros: -Away from the hustle and bustle of Old Town -Convenient shuttle to Old Town and the Beach. Also the airport, which we didn’t use. -Beach chairs included in resort fee -Large pool -Restaurant and bar onsite -Market a few steps away Cons: -Outdated and tired (our curtain was filthy) -Shuttle loading is a cattle call, NOT first come first serve -Dirty dishes are left out on the tables for HOURS (we had the pleasure of looking at this from our balcony) -It was difficult to find a pool chair that wasn’t moldy -Resort games were a hazard (cornhole was a sliver disaster) -Pictures showed our balcony with a table and 4 chairs. We only had a table and 2 chairs, one of which was partially broken. The reason we booked this balcony room is because we wanted to be able to enjoy outside time together as a family of three. Solution was to pull the desk chair onto the balcony. Not ideal for us, and not what the hotel would prefer, I’m sure. Would we stay here again? Yes, but only if they update first.
