“Best bang for your buck!!!”

Wow this place really doesn’t disappoint. We came here 10 years ago just my wife and I for an anniversary trip without our kids. We decided to come back 10 years later with our two sons this time that are 11 and 14. The hotel is super clean, the food is amazing and has tons of selection in the buffet. They even changed their a la carte restaurants to a first come first serve basis which is absolutely perfect and all hotels should to the same. We always found that we’d book an a la cart and then have a busy day and then not want to go for our designated time. Most of the time we’d end up just not showing up for our reserved time. This time all the restaurants are first come first serve and we actually went to them 3 times which is a new record for us. So thank you RIU for changing that format. We also noticed that the a la carts were actually full with this new system. Great work!!! The staff here work so hard and are so friendly. They really top the vacation for us. Many times we’d be going of site and the bell boys would always ask where and what we were doing and fully communicate to the taxis what we needed. This was huge for us in situations like going to the crocodile rescue that is a short distance away. The issue is that the rescue is so far off the beaten path that even Uber is a little hesitant to pick you up. So the front guy simply asked our cab to wait while we did the tour and then brought us back. Amazing help for us!!! We also did a deep sea fishing trip booked through Alex the Sunwing rep. It was such a good trip that we made sure it go back and tip him as well for the great recommendation. So if you aren’t a stick up picky person, please hook this hotel and you will LOVE the experience. If you are a picky Karen that needs people to bow down to you and wipe your butt for you, then maybe spend another $10k and go to a fancier resort. Again all the staff at RIU Jalisco, our entire family thanks you for an amazing family vacation!!! Keep up the great work!!

“Perfect foods”

Entertainment was great, excellent foods and service. Nice and beautiful area and amenities. Perfect swimming pools for kids and adults. Excellent drinks

“Nice resort will be back again.”

All in all the resort was wonderful and we will go back. +'s- Beautiful beach, beautiful area, close to walk to other RIU resort (you can lunch at the Vallarta one), food was good, rooms clean. -'s- Mini fridge and coffee was almost never restocked even after asking 6 times, the Steak restauran... more

“Pretty, but watch the food”

We just returned from a multi-family visit to Nuevo Vallarta. Our family stayed at Riu Jalisco, and the other two families stayed at Riu Vallarta. We were able to spend the day together at whichever resort, just a quick walk apart. We could eat lunch at each other’s resorts but not breakfast or dinner, and the lunch buffets were virtually identical. Our family goes to PV/NV about once a year, but this was our first time staying at a RIU. The good: - RIU Jalisco is quite beautiful, imho. The fountains and pools are lovely, and there is always a lounger available on the beach no matter when you go. - there is literally a lounge of bearded dragons by the one pool, and they are delightful. - I thought the serving staff were excellent as long as you remembered pesos to tip them. - front desk staff were fantastic as was the cleaning staff. - there is an elevator! This is a rarity from our experience, and makes a huge difference if you have mobility concerns. - the musicians, dancers, and rec people are top notch. - I love resorts that obviously draw in Mexican people as well as gringos. Idk, I feel like that says positive things about the management, and I don’t generally go to other countries just to see more Canadians. The not amazing; - this is a party hotel, full stop. Yes, there is a kids pool and family activities and accommodations, but the pool events cater to 20-somethings who came to let loose in tiny bikinis (fair enough), and the evening shows and dj’d parties literally rattled our room, which was unfortunately right behind the stage. During the week shows go to 10:30; on Fridays and Saturdays they go to 11/11:30 and beyond. Perhaps if you are staying further from the stage it is less noticeable. - there are no tables and chairs in the family rooms. I had to work a bit while we were there, and we also wanted to just sit and do stuff sometimes. We had to just find various ways to make that work on a bed or the floor. - the beach is horse-scented due to the option to ride on the beach. Great option, not amazing smell, but perhaps worth it if you love horses. I was never sure if I was about to step in something when walking to the water. - of the 11 people in our combined group between the two RIUs, 7-8 of us contracted food poisoning to various levels of suffering throughout the trip (and beyond, some are still recovering). This put a large wrinkle in our plans. The buffets are kept out for hours; do not make the mistake of assuming they are refreshing the mayo-affiliated salads or seafood during that time, as we did. Okay, so if you are young and want to party, and plan to drink more than you eat, this would be a super fun resort. The neon party looked awesome if you were not a parent trying to deal with sick and over-tired kids. RIU Jalisco wasn’t a perfect fit for our family, and the food poisoning sucked a lot, but such is life. We still had fun times together, and their chips, pico de gallo and (virgin) pina coladas make a great sick day snack.
