“The staff are the heart of this hotel!”

We stayed at the Calypso in September 2024, it was our 4th time there. We have stayed at several hotels in Benidorm but we have found our perfect hotel and would not stay anywhere else. The location is ideal - not too far from the beach and main bus stops and close to the indoor and outdoor markets and it is positioned right at the end of 'the strip'. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating and the food is lovely - We always had plenty of choice and usually ate too much lol. The pool area is quite large and we never had a problem getting a sunbed - even at midday. The entertainment takes place at the outside bar area at the front of the hotel. I've got to admit that it's not the best but there are so many bars close by it's not a problem. The rooms are ample size with good air conditioning and a free safe and large balcony. No kettle though so take your own or buy one from the indoor market. Guests tend to be more middle aged like us and although there were a few groups of men there they were all well behaved. There were several guests that we recognised and it seems we all visit the hotel at the same time every year which is lovely. The whole hotel is spotless and the staff work very hard. In fact the staff are the heart of the hotel! I've got to mention Samantha on reception who helped us so much, always smiling - the perfect person to welcome people to the hotel. Also Mercher in the restaurant- the happiest person I saw in the whole of Spain! And last but certainly not least - Lawrence the barman at the pool. He works so hard, he never stops yet he is always smiling and nothing is too much trouble for him! Visit Hotel Calypso - you won't be disappointed!

This was our 4th visit to the Calypso, love its central location. Huge selling point is you can always get a sunbed no matter the time of day, none of that mad dash you have at other hotels. Restaurant spotless and genuinely lovely, friendly man on the desk. Unfortunately this year my friend was admitted to hospital on our 2nd day there for the entire length of our holiday, I cannot thank the reception staff highly enough for their help and support, special thanks to Samantha who was amazing and also Kate and the other ladies, sorry I cant remember all your names, each one of you showed concern and interest, my sincere thanks to you all. My friend is now on the road to recovery and we have already booked to return next year.

Have give Hotel Calypso 4 stars as can't give 3 1/2 as I rate this hotel 7/10. Would have scored 8 or 9 if rooms were bigger. They are just too small and claustrophobic. Have give Hotel Calypso 4 stars as can't give 3 1/2 as I rate this hotel 7/10. Would have scored 8 or 9 if rooms were bigger. They are just too small and claustrophobic. Also quite dated including the shocking pink bathroom! Other than that, this is a fine hotel, which appears to have numerous returning guests and I can see why. The staff are very polite and professional. The maids attend every day without fail. The restaurant is a good size and most days found the food ok. Once again, attentive staff who remove plates very quickly. Note as with all servigroup hotels, drinks must be ordered and paid for at mealtimes except breakfast, where the usual juices and fizz are plentiful. Plenty of lifts, albeit too small. Best part of this hotel for me is the pool area, Really good size. Plenty of sun all day and most importantly, plenty of sunbeds. Really was never a problem getting one. The pool is a fair size with a proper deep end to it and a nice poolside bar to go with it. As said, I can understand why so many return here and if the rooms were bigger, I might have but not for me but a fine hotel all the same.
