Dinant has a lot to offer. Paddling a canoe with thousand others in a half meter deep Lesse river, enjoying local Belgian cuisine near the Meuse riverbank tourist prison area, drinking the local Leffe brewed a few hundred miles away and why not dream about saxophones while you are at it. Ride 3kms further, in the woods, away from town and enter a different world, Jurassic park alike. There silence takes over, I mean true silence. Castel de Pont à Lesse offers it for free. For the breakfast and rooms you pay some money to get a lot of value in return. Super friendly multi lingual staff, clean and modern amenities and a nice ample restaurant with a superb breakfast. So would even go there to avoid the city of Dinant. A nice place!

This place is in dire need of attention. Our room was not in the best shape. The desk lights didn't work, nor did the built in power sockets (so something wasn't plugged in), there were tv cables hanging loose, the woodwork was rotten, toiletpaper came out per two extremely thin sheets, there were empty soap bottles in the bathroom, opening the fridge resulted in the fridge being pulled out of the cabinet, but thankfully the garden was stunning, staff was very friendly, and the food was outstanding.

“High potential, but cost savings ruins it”

We stayed here for one night and must say we were a bit reluctant having read previous reviews. Luckily there were not any major issues with our stay, but it was still a bit frustrating to see how they threw away such a good potential. To take the positives first, the location is nice and secluded and the room we got at least seemed to be partially updated recent years. There were still some old furniture with stains, but paint and doors seemed new(er). The outside area between the main buildings with a terrace and a grill was also nice. If you wandered a bit further though, that's where you see the decline. What seemed to be a basket & tennis court in addition to a miniature golf course are just left to rot. That's not something that require heavy maintenance to keep in order, so that's just laziness, and something that would have made the hotel much better and catered to families in a whole different way. The water in the indoor swimming pool was also freexing cold, probably another cost saving activity. In addition, when we came to breakfast about 10 minutes before closing, pretty much everything was picked out. When staff came out and took some of the trays I expected them to refill and restock, but instead they just took them away. This left us with very few options and is not acceptable from a serious hotel. If breakfast times are until 10, you should get the same experience no matter if you show up at 8 or 9.50. Again, this is laziness and cost saving, but seems like an implemented routine. All in all, this has the potential to be a great hotel, but that requires willingness from the management. Right now, that doesn't seem to be existing.

At first glance this hotel looks very nice and quite posh but when you look closely it isn't! At first glance this hotel looks very nice and quite posh but when you look closely it isn't! The cleanliness left a lot to be desired and the stairs really could have done with a Blooming good clean, in the bathroom there was the box for a shower cap but it was empty, no tea or coffee making facilities and the rather expensive €20 meatball and chips didn't come with any veg or salad, the chips were catering frozen chips that had bad bits in, for the money I would have expected freshly made chips and not mass produced. on the whole €220 for a one night stay for 2 people wasn't value for money
