“Wow, what a great stay”

I’m not easily impressed, but this short Andalucía trip for my wife’s birthday had a few gems in it, and this stay was one of them. As my adult daughter was also with us, I booked a suite instead of two separate standard rooms… and what a great decision that was. We’d stayed with Barcelo on a trip to Madrid last year and were pleased with the space, but that didn’t compare to this club premium suite! Wow doesn’t describe it. There was so much space I wished we were staying longer, but we had plans for Granada the next day. The bathroom was huge with comfy robes and a whirlpool bath as well as shower. The bed was large and very comfortable and the mini bar was a pleasant surprise. The terrace was well equipped with furniture and had pleasing views over the pool although I think they missed a trick by not having the suite terraces on the other side of the building with golf course and Mountain View’s which were incredible. We popped out for dinner in the old town and upon our return we found a birthday gift for my wife alongside a hand written note from the guest experience manager. Now many of you may not be impressed until I tell you we hadn’t mentioned that it was my wife’s birthday the following day - they had just noticed it from our check in documents and provided this wonderful treat. Full marks plus for this most excellent customer service and attention to detail. Rocío is at the top of her game. We had a drink in the bar which was pleasant enough although the staff level seemed low, which may have been due to low season.. but we were in no rush. The breakfast buffet was another win over our usual choice, the Meliá. The barcelo coffee offering is far superior. The choice was more than enough for anyone, with fry up brits catered for as well as continental breakfasts. Tip, the more well done bacon was further round the corner. I found out too late but my daughter misses nothing. We checked out the smaller club pool and although it we were the only occupants but it felt a little neglected. Not unclean, just under-maintained. For example one of the stair runners was cracked through and could fail. We all know how wood suffers in the heat. We experienced the same level of trepidation when sitting on the comfy seats at the gastro bar terrace, which are situated on the raised wooden deck area. The cracking noises and movement experienced when stood upon was not for the feint hearted. My wife was sad that the spa had such limited opening hours that didn’t coincide with our stay. My daughter had wanted to treat them. Parking was chargeable but convenient and reception set the ticket so we could come and go and pay once at checkout. All in all a fantastic stay that will bring me back to Barcelo in future and probably convince me to upgrade to club premium.

“Good hotel 👍🏼”

We had a good stay in this hotel because of the spacious rooms with separate beds and a spacious bathroom with a large walk-in shower. the breakfast buffet and dinner buffet are good and healthy. there is a large and spacious swimming pool with nice sunbeds.

Positives - Very friendly, polite staff throughout the hotel. A grand entrance/reception area. The room was large with lots of space. A great selection of pillows, a great mattress. Positives - Very friendly, polite staff throughout the hotel. A grand entrance/reception area. The room was large with lots of space. A great selection of pillows, a great mattress. We had a comfortable night's sleep. Rooms are very well cleaned on a daily basis. We had a lovely view over looking the pool area and the mountains in the distance. Plenty of sunbeds whilst we were there, as the hotel was not too busy. A variety of food at the breakfast buffet. The chefs were friendly and helpful. Staff in the restaurant area couldn't do enough to assist us. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and our wedding anniversary. A lovely surprise was left in our room with a beautiful messgae on our return from a daytrip. Thank you. Negatives - Swimming pool opening times 11 am - 6 pm, so we did not have the opportunity to use as we went out most days and on return the pool area was already closed. The wellness centre - The Spa did not open throughout our stay (we did 4 nights, Sun - Thurs) Location - The nearest beach is a 10 minute drive from the hote (and not the best!), so we drove further afield to find sandier beaches. You will need a car to get around. We did not use public transport, so cannot comment on how well this worked. The room requires soundproofing, even with balcony doors closed, we could still hear the noise from our neighbours. The bathroom shower door did not close properly, so the bathroom mat was drenched after a 7 minute shower. Be aware plugs are removed from baths due to water saving. One of the wall lamps did not work, thus made the room dark in the evenings.

There needs to be clear information at the hotel that bad behaviour by guests will not be tolerated.
