“Very pleasant stay”

Very nice location, pleasant atmosphere, not overcrowded, delicious food, even i was dissapointed by the kids place being closed, my kid loved it there

“First holiday as a family”

Spent 10 days at this resort. Family of 3 with a 10 month old baby. There were some aspects of the hotel which were brilliant such as the restaurant staff and the housekeeping staff (Sylvia in particular was amazing). They were so great with our baby, always so attentive, saying hello and making us feel very welcome. Food choice was good too, in all of the restaurants (including those at the Mar too). The bungalow I found was perfect for us and for us was in a great location as we could look out onto the beach and we were a few steps from the children's pool which was heated so perfect for the baby and by a bar which served certain drinks. Location of the hotel was excellent too right by the centre and also right on the harbour. There were however a few things which could be improved: - initially when we arrived it took a while for my baby to adjust to the time schedules for lunch and dinner as they started at 1pm and 7pm (7pm usually being her bedtime) so personally for us it could have been better for it to start an hour earlier. On our first day she slept through breakfast, and I was told I was not allowed to be given a takeout box for her so she was not able to eat breakfast that day and was told she can eat at the snack bar, which was appalling to be honest. Cold burgers and chips, warm potato salad and hard sandwiches. The snack bar was also a very long walk away from the children's pool. The bar by the children's pool only served fizzy drinks, water and beer to all inclusive which was not convenient. - we were lucky with our position of the bungalow being close to a bar during the day so if my baby was indoors napping or playing etc we were able to get some fizzy drinks and bring them back as it was close. However, on an evening there was only one place to get drinks which was at least a 10 minute walk to the harbour. We were only able to take one drink back each due to having a pushchair and it was not worthwhile going back out again to get another drink so we ended up having to buy our own which is not the point of all inclusive! - reception staff were unfriendly and unhelpful. - just some small finishing touches which could be easily fixed such as the locks on the doors on the children's pool toilets being broken, there being no baby changing facilities at the children's pool either. Overall Castillo was lovely and I would go back despite what I'm mention above but it feels like there has been a lot more attention given to the Mar.

We enjoyed aspects of this hotel during our week long stay on a half board basis. We had made a request through TUI for the accommodation. When we got to our room this had not been granted so TUI had either not passed it on or the hotel had not granted it. On check in the chap was so unhelpful that we waited until the next day and were able to move room (you have to check out of your room and wait for another one to be cleaned). This obviously eats in to the first day of your holiday but we chose to do this as the first room we were given directly faced someone else’s terrace with little sun. Food quality was good overall and the restaurant staff were efficient and friendly. Minimal time to wait for drinks to be served. We were situated a fair distance from the facilities and therefore being able to get a drink during the day and relax on the sunbeds on your bungalow terrace was an issue. If we had booked all inclusive we would have been very disappointed as we would not have been able to take full advantage of the all inclusive facility. Who would want to walk quite a trek there and back to the pool bar each time you want a drink! Something to be taken into account when booking this hotel. Half board suited us much better. We did not use the a la carte restaurants as when we looked at the supplement to east in those for half board guests, it was expensive. You can eat out in the local restaurants for a cheaper price. Good pool area and not too chilly for a swim being unheated. One pool closed for renovation and we did not know of this before our arrival. This is not the hotel ‘s fault. TUI should be informing their customers about this, there was nothing at all on their website when booking the hotel! We have to comment on the Reception staff who we found to be rather inconsistent. Some were helpful and friendly, some were decidedly not so! We seemed to get differing information on certain aspects and a few members of staff just appeared like they really were not interested in helping to be honest. However as stated, some were very good that we came across. We felt this was a good stay overall. Would we return, not sure to be honest. If you have booked though, enjoy as there are some good points for sure.

Some fantastic points but some of the bungalows and areas are a little tired. The positives - Great staff, from reception to the bar staff, guest experience and everyone we met were so welcoming, especially with our little boy as well. Really enjoyed some of the on site bars (Marina and La Perlita especially), nice selection of options. The improvements needed - some people seem to have mentioned updated rooms, not all must have been. Ours needed a little tlc. The Guest Experience team were great at trying to resolve but ultimately we ended up staying in same one with a bit of maintenance which happened while we were there. Some bits around the castillo main pools weren't great, they needed also some repairs and the area just didn't feel that inviting. There is some work going on in another part of that pool area so hopefully once finished it will all be looked at. It did all cast a slight down on the Holiday, I expected more for the cost. Overall - It is a great resort with great staff but just watch out for your accommodation quality.
