Great hotel, lovely food and lovely walks in the area. Would highly recommend going to the Royal Level.

This is very good value for money - it is very modern, decorated beautifully and is very clean.But don’t go here if you want to venture out and drink in other bars and restaurants or walk round markets etc as the area around this large hotel is quiet. We stayed very much at the hotel and immediate surroundings, it is right on a beautiful beach where there are water sports - drinks and food was great - plenty of choice and good quality. We will definitely stay in another Barcelo hotel again.

“Great stay”

Great location, be prepared to walk around the resort. I didn't realise before travelling that the facilities were between the two hotels

We stayed at the Barcelo Fuerteventura Castillo in April this year. We looked at Tripadvisor reviews before we booked which had mixed reviews, but most were mainly positive. The resort appealed to us for a number of reasons and the fact we could use the facilities of the sister hotel (Barcelo Fuerteventura Mar) was definitely a bonus, especially as one of the pools was being refurbished. Check-in was straightforward and most of the reception staff were lovely and helpful, with one or two not so. We stayed in a bungalow with a sea view, overlooking the lovely beach. The bungalow was spacious for 2 of us, but the self-catering facilities were basic. Certainly not enough utensils or kitchenware to cook much. The terrace was lovely but the floor wasn't clean and had pigeon poo in certain areas due to the birds sitting above and was never cleaned during our week stay. Our bungalow was cleaned everyday and coffee/tea replenished. The breakfast buffet was plentiful although if you can't have gluten or have any other dietary requirements there aren't many options. We spent most of our time at the Fuerteventura Mar pool, because the Fuerteventura Castillo pool was very cold. We upgraded to half board on Day 2, so enjoyed lunch at the Tindaya Buffet Restaurant most days which was fine, but by the last day it became a bit samey. The biggest problem was the area outside of the resort. There are some nice enough restaurants, but most of them were geared up for "British" tourists. The bars were the same which was disappointing. Because of this we mostly visited the marina bar after our evening meals, where they had live music most evenings. The resort itself is fine if all you want to do is chill out and sunbathe by the pool everyday, but as for the nightlife, it was distinctly lacking as were the restaurant options outside of the resort if you wanted nice, traditional Spanish meals. Sadly Caleta de Fuste is full of too many Brits and doesn't really have a Spanish feel.
