“Atmospheric old spa”

Used the spa . Very atmospheric. Rather confusing as to whether this spa across the road is part of tge hotel or not. Town very pretty. Rated in an international travel magazine as the best in Spain.

We had a nice stay, for three nights, with two children, in the last days of August. I guess we just missed peak season, which was great. The hotel didn't feel too full although I am pretty sure we had a room that was the furthest away from reception as possible - that's basically the only downer as it made every walk to and from the room a very long one. That being said we had a very spacious room with a separation between adults and children, which was a good plus. Breakfast was very good and with lots of choices, and the outdoor pool was also fairly big and comfortable to sit at. We didn't think we would use the Palacio del Agua, but we ended up doing it and went every afternoon. Our son had to pay, though, which was not so positive but in the end people there made it easy for us so my wife and I could share "his" time while the other parent took care of the baby. Dinner is a tad expensive for the quality, although the starter buffet does offer quite some variety (the mussels were excellent) - and children here cost nothing, go figure. The town is charming and offers some alternatives for meals, which at lunch time can cost 10€ for a full menu, which was great. Lots of different treks are to be found, and some river beaches also are to be found near the hotel. We also drove around, there are some castles (Soutomario or Sobroso) or an old Celtic "Castro" (Troña) that can be visited, and a drive to Arcade brought an excellent sea-food lunch. All in all we had a nice stay and some relaxing days.

Location: The SPA/hoel is at distance of less than hour from Pontevedra and Vigo. To reach the SPA/hotel you need a car r transport arrangement. Many clients seem to come by car and you may need to park the car quite far from the hotel. There are no supermarket near the hotel- so what you need is better to buy from elsewhere. Public areas: There are a lot of moisture damages in the walls as well as worn structures without adequate maintenance and repair. The hotel needs urgent renovation. On the other hand worn places belong to the charm of the SPA/hotel. SPA:The SPA has some kind of ancient SPA feeling. There are quite many and different bubble options as well as rapid circular flow area.SPA department has dry sauna as well as steam sauna. The steam sauna was hot enough- so far they have been elsewhere too cold. The SPA has also Japanese type shallow outdoor pool. But again, a lot of renovation would be needed. The hotel has also a separate celtic circle SPA consisting of hot bubble bath, cave sauna, body shower and hot Japanese type shallow bath. Food: the breakfast is typical buffet breakfast without omelette service. Again, very little fish options but reasonable salad offering. The starters of dinner are taken from buffet while main course is ordered from a few options and brought to the table. The dinner starters included quite many salad options. The main courses were not anything special. This is so far the only hotel I have met offering water as a part of the dinner- excellent! Rooms: The rooms are large. Furniture is basic but adequate. The rooms have similar renovation need as the public areas. Personnel: I have nothing special to say about personnel. They did their job properly and effectively.
