This is our second visit to the Alba Beach Hotel previously Balmoral and I have only given it 3 stars for average instead of the 4 stars I gave it last time. This is because of the food, we never got hot food it was always lukewarm they do have 3 microwaves in the dining room for you to warm you... more

This is our second visit to the Alba Beach Hotel previously Balmoral and I have only given it 3 stars for average instead of the 4 stars I gave it last time. This is because of the food, we never got hot food it was always lukewarm they do have 3 microwaves in the dining room for you to warm your food up but it would have be nice to have at least one meal that was hot. We were lucky enough to get a room with a pool view but I understand from the reception that you will have to pay extra for these rooms in the future because they are now all superior rooms. The beds are really comfy and the rooms are cleaned to a high standard. The hotel is exceptionally clean everywhere. The staff are really helpful. The sunbathing area is only small and the sun beds need replacing a lot are broken. Because of shading from the trees it can get a bit crowded in one area. The pool didn’t open until 12 in May in September it was 11 the sunbathing area opens at 9. On our last day round the pool area a rat was running around under the sun beds and then went on the patio where people where having a cuppa they all jumped on there seats the staff were informed of the rat 15 minutes before this happened and eventually came out and said we put poison down a couple of days ago and we thought it was dead🙈. We did enjoy our stay but we ate out a few times. The location is great for the beach and eating out lot’s of restaurants close by. We wouldn’t stay here again because the price as gone up so much and from our experience it’s not worth paying anymore than we paid for this trip.

“How hard is it to make scrambled eggs”

Cheap and cheerful, but felt the food let them down, always trusted med play group in the past, perhaps it depends on size of hotel .room good as we asked for with pool view and low room and even a bit of sea view.very old fashioned in places and thin walls.great position and no banks to climb.
