“Second visit to Las Gaviotas!!!”

Booked again as we enjoyed it last year. If anything it has improved. We like the bungalow with sunbeds that negates the need to book a bed by the pool at 6am. It is quite peaceful so we can chill with a book or six. The internet works well so you can check emails for free. The restaurant/bar is really good - wide choice of quality food and loads of fresh fruit and veg. All inclusive wine comes in a bottle without the ploy to sell premium wines at a discount. And the people are so pleasant and helpful - special thanks to Luigi and the team. We hope to meet again next year!!!

Las Gaviotas in Matagorda is a place We would definitely recommend. On arrival we were taken to our apartment and made to feel very welcome,block 6. The apartment had a well equipped kitchen,large bathroom a good sized bedroom with good storage,large sitting room with comfy seaton and a TV with English channels to view a good sized patio and an enclosed area at the back for drying washing or sunbathing. Two sunbeds were supplied as with table and chairs The bonus was each block had a pool and it was of a good size which avoided over crowding, a few apartments were right near the pool and looked very spacious. Angela our ever smiley chambermaid kept the apartment immaculate and couldnt do enough to help,she was very charming. Not to far from shops and a walk along the side of the airport. A very enjoyable stay was had

What a fabulous location. A warm welcome and got driven to our apartment from reception. Pools were warm which for me is MUST and my family as we like to spend a fair bit of time in the pool. The atmosphere around our pool ( block 8) was good and we met some lovely people.... Thanks to the lovel... more

What a fabulous location. A warm welcome and got driven to our apartment from reception. Pools were warm which for me is MUST and my family as we like to spend a fair bit of time in the pool. The atmosphere around our pool ( block 8) was good and we met some lovely people.... Thanks to the lovely couple from Norway, I enjoyed fabulous Mojito. It's a shame that the glass surround at the pools weren't better thought out when installed. For any swimmers there is no real shallow area and the stairs into the pool are now inaccessible apart from the main staircase in. Understanderable that preventing children from falling into the pool but as the life guard ( not winters) would have to firstly be able to spot anyone in difficulty bit would also have to make it to the opposite end of the pool and the fact that to get to the shallowist areas of the pool you enter at the deepest does really not make sense. I'm small but at 5ft 3 I was on my tip toes in the shallow. The cleaning team were amazing and came daily. The apartments are compact but certainly accommodating. The extra area to hang and dry washing and not have it in your balcony was fab The area that Las Gaviotas is situated in has the best beaches in the region and some great bars and restaurants in the local vicinity. We hope to return. Thank you to all of you that made our stay a lovely experience

“An ok basic accommodation”

Arrived at Las Gaviotas and was checked in by a very pleasant lady on reception. Arrived at Las Gaviotas and was checked in by a very pleasant lady on reception. Checked in and had to pay €10 deposit for the tv remote and another €10 for a remote for the air conditioning, No dramas there, got to our room pretty basic but suffice for what we needed for our holiday. The apartments are in a perfect location in Matagorda as close to plenty of shops, restaurants and the beach. Beds were very comfortable but the pillows left a lot to be desired, lumpy and flat. Couldn’t get the airconditioning to stay on and after a trip to reception was informed that it only stayed on for 2 hrs and then had to switched back on, not good for a hot night as every couple of hrs had to get up and switch it back on, this was a real negative. Breakfast was fantastic, plenty of choice, omelettes made to order so always lovely and hot, evening meal was slightly different not always so good, but overall pretty average. Drinks with our evening meal always came with a different price, same drinks for both of us but cost changed daily, pretty sure they made the prices up as they went along and depending on was working at the time, not a good way for stock control!!! A pool for each area of apartments so only about 30 rooms to share a pool, which is good and your own sun lounges on your own terrace so never have to try and fight for a sun bed which is a positive.The pools didn’t look exceptionally clean though as you could see green around the top of them and they looked rather dirty. A big thank you to Nicola, you made amazing omelettes and to the two ladies who work in the restaurant, your service was great.
