We have just arrived home from our one week all inclusive stay. 2 adults 3 kids age (9, 11 & 12) split over two rooms. We made a request on the booking to have the rooms next to each other which they accommodated. We arrived around 9:30pm so missed the evening meal. We had to walk up the street to buy food elsewhere. The bar was open till late so drinks were available there. However there is alot of lovely local restaurants and pubs. The rooms were very clean, cleaners did a great job. You are provided with a card to hang on your door if you do not want the cleaners to go in. Otherwise cleaners go into the rooms to provide clean towels every day and make beds and empty the bin. I had read reviews on cockroaches and bugs in the rooms but we never seen any during our whole stay. Food - Breakfast was great, lots of choices. Lunch and snack bar were okay, same things but what you’d expect really for a 3* . Burgers, hotdogs, (2 days they had chicken kebabs) pizza, chips, crisps, fruit & ice creams. Cheese crackers, sandwiches, soup ect. You could get ice lollies for an additional cost. Evening meals weren’t that great and we ate out 3 nights because of this. The italian buffet which is included in the all inclusive was nice but you have to book in advance for a table there. We booked a couple of excursions, one picked us up at 7:10am. The hotel won’t provide a breakfast or sandwich to take away even if you are all inclusive. I know some hotels do but Tamaimo Tropical don’t. Ques - Ques for meals varied, sometimes we got straight in, sometimes waited 5-10 mins. The que for both bars was around 10mins…. Couple of occasions slightly longer. Take your tumbler, they are happy to fill them and means less trips to the bar for the smaller cups. Entertainment was fantastic! Such a great team. They do a great job at making everyone feel included and encourage kids and adults to have fun. “Be crazy, not lazy”! They provide lots of games and activities throughout the day from 10am. The evening entertainment was fab, kids disco, diploma ceremony for the winners for the activities during the day. Bingo and then entertainment later. It stopped around 10:30pm but bar was open later. We didn’t get picked up till 9:30pm for our transfer back to the airport. The hotel said we could leave our suitcases at reception after checkout and we enjoyed the day by the pool still using the all inclusive. You can book a slot to have a shower. Which is a room on the top floor but be prepared as everyone who books a slot uses the same room, once one family hands the key in then the next get it. there are used towels everywhere, but it was somewhere to get clean and changed. There are a few negatives but i think there are way more positives about the hotel, it certainly doesn’t put us off and we would return and recommend to others, especially families.

I deliberated a fair bit about whether to leave this hotel a 3 or 4 star review following our 11 night stay as a family group over the October half term. I settled on 4 star in the end because of the price we paid through TUI and the staff, especially the animation and kids club team who were nothing short of excellent. Our group consisted of four adults and one six year old. We stayed across 2 one bedroom apartments on an all inclusive basis. One of the apartments had a kitchenette (which we assumed was usually allocated to self catering guests) and the other did not. Both rooms were very clean and comfortable and the cleaning staff do a good job. Prior to travelling we had contacted the hotel to request that one of the apartments, for a member of our group with mobility issues, was situated on a level which was accessible by the lift. The response from the hotel was very prompt and we found the request fulfilled when we arrived. The pool areas at the hotel were both clean and pleasant. The main pool is really lively and the entertainment team do a great job of getting people involved in the activities and our daughter absolutely loved it. The quiet pool had a good area in the shade and it was a much more relaxed atmosphere. At no point did we have an issue getting sunbeds around either pool. If you want prime position right at the front you probably needed to be up early but as long as you are flexible with where you sit it wasn’t an issue at all getting a bed. The things we found less positive about the pools were a lack of accessibility for those with mobility issues, the quiet pool only has ladders and the main pool has a fairly big step down into it then a steep slope rather than steps. Frustratingly there was work going on around the quiet pool on a number of the days meaning that there was drilling and or hammering beside where people were trying to relax. Five out of seven days from 3-5:30pm the hotel runs a kids club. We were confused initially as there are two kids clubs one which is ran by a French company for their guests and situated behind that is the hotel’s kids club for all nationalities. The team that covered the kids club were brilliant, really warm and welcoming and did things like face painting and crafting. One afternoon they took the children to the shallow children’s pool by the main pool and did water games with them. Our daughter always had a lovely time at kids clubs and made friends there. On her last day as she had not won any certificates from the activities they arranged for her to receive a special diploma instead, they did this for some other children throughout our stay as well. As we were staying on an all inclusive basis we ate most meals at the hotel. We found the food at the buffet to be fine and fairly typical for a 3 star all inclusive. We are not fussy eaters and could always find something to eat. We tried the Italian buffet restaurant one evening which made a nice change but as it had a more limited choice we only ate there once. One issue we found was mid way through our break there seemed to be an absolutely baffling change in policy around letting guests into the dining room unless there was a clean set table for them. Up until this point guests had been allowed to enter the dining room get a table and get their own cutlery etc. The change in policy meant there were massive disorganised queues outside the restaurant at peak times and a member of the dining room staff having to actively police entry rather than focus on the other tasks that needed doing. Once allowed into the dining room there were so many tables free that just hadn’t been set as the staff were too busy. That aside there is a nice outdoor seating area which we found to be a bit calmer than the inside space. During the day there is a snack bar beside the main pool which serves chips, burgers, hot dogs, nachos, fruit and mini ice creams etc. Our little girl made good use of this as she was often peckish between meal times. With respect to the bars we didn’t find there to be too much of an issue with queuing, though we did have to wait about 15 mins to be served on a couple of occasions. The worst time of day seemed to be late morning when only the bar at the main pool is open with one member of staff serving. The quiet pool bar does not open until midday. Self service soft drinks would have a significant impact on the amount of queuing people had to do. That said on most occasions queues were dealt with quickly and bar staff were friendly. The evening entertainment was steady away, our daughter absolutely loved it. There is a mini disco every night, followed by certificates from the activities that have taken place over the day, something like bingo or a quiz and then a show or karaoke to finish by about 10:30. For the start of our break the entertainment was all outside but after the clocks changed everything was inside. The outside space is much less crowded and there were still tables set up outside for those that did not want to be inside for the entertainment. The bar is open until midnight as well which is later than some all inclusives we have stayed at. The hotel is in a hilly area but there are a few restaurants and bars and a couple of supermarkets on the same level as the hotel within a very short walk and without having to go up or down any steps. We did not walk to the beach but opted to get a taxi to Playa Arena which was lovely and only cost around 5 euros. The coastline in the area is absolutely stunning. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would return if we got a good deal.

Pro’s: Entertainment was great both during the day around the pool and at night. Breakfast selection was good. Room was regularly cleaned. Hotel, restaurant, and pool area were all clean. Nice location (if you are looking for something a bit quieter and away from the hustle and bustle of a busy resort. Some nice bars and restaurants nearby and los gigantes is a short walk with some stunning views. Con’s: We arrived at the hotel late and after dinner had closed. There was no bottled water or food available and we were directed to a supermarket which was closed and a vending machine which was out of order. Queues for drinks were 20 minutes long every day. Apart from water, there were no self serve soft drinks available. Evening meals were average and there were long queues for the restaurant at all times of the day. Sun bed wars were insane! If you weren’t up and out by 7 at the latest, the chance of getting a bed by the pool was slim to none! Some of the staff were rude and unhelpful. You can’t extend your room for your day of departure until the day you leave and we were then told that it was not possible. The courtesy room provided was dirty. There is no where to store luggage after checkout so bags are left in reception. The second room had no window or ventilation. Overall we had a lovely relaxing break which was made better by the beautiful weather but we wouldn’t come back to this hotel or resort.
