“All in all more like a 3 star!”

Firstly I wouldn’t say the hotel doesn’t look much like the pictures, lots of the hotel is tired and a bit grubby and needs money spent on it, such as holes in the fences, chipped flooring, the rooms aren’t very clean, chipped plates and unclean cutlery. However the gardens are well kept. The hotel has lots of positives; myself and my son are gluten free and the hotel accommodates us well with pasta, pancakes and bread. However you have to let them know a day in advance of what you want and there isn’t much GF selections in the normal food which is a bit annoying. The staff on the whole are friendly and the entertainment staff work really hard, I only saw one show but they had high energy, that being said the standard of entertainment is far lower than what I’ve seen before. The hotel room was nice, the shower is unreal 👌🏼, however the beds are rock hard. There is plenty of beds to sunbathe on and lots for kids to do. The negatives are that it is not a four star hotel, all inclusive drinks stop at 11pm which is ridiculous, especially when you’ve just landed and they won’t serve you a drink. The hotel doesn’t have any wow factor to it, it’s just nice. Everywhere looks a bit grubby and run down minus the gardens. My son had to pay for tennis balls despite there being big holes in the fence 🙈. LOTS of the drinks are not all inclusive. The food is ok but nothing was wow! On Lanzarote, the weather wasn’t great for June which was a bit disappointing but apparently this is common at this time of year, just something to think about. However I loved the island, the people are lovely, great food and drink, Playa Blanca is lovely with nice beaches and this has been by far the best place I’ve ever visited as a gluten free person. Pretty much every hotel caters for you. I would recommend Lani’s and La Casa Rojo for food and drink 👌🏼. I would definitely come back to Playa Blanca but I wouldn’t recommend or stay at this hotel.

Positives - great location - good variety of tasty food - really fun family entertainment from enthusiastic animation team - friendly, polite and helpful staff - small supermarket on site - really handy - great splash park on site - nice quiet Olympic style pool tucked away from the main area - lovely lobby bar - lovely, helpful, knowledgable TUI rep (Joanne) Negatives - hard, cheap, uncomfortable beds - rooms looked tired and in need of maintenance and tlc - toilet paper has to go in a bin. There’s no housekeeping on Fridays to empty this. - unheated pools (they were freezing!) - the pool bar area was not kept clean enough and felt a bit rough - reusable cups/glasses should be used at the pool bar, not paper ones - this would cut down on waste and litter - make check in earlier - we arrived at 12:30 but were told check in wasn’t until 15:00. We went back at 15:00 to be told the room was still not ready - no bottled water is provided in the room, which was surprising. Tip - make sure to take a refillable water bottle and fill up at the restaurant - housekeeping was a bit hit and miss - the room was not properly cleaned every day, dirty towels were taken away but no replacement ones left (I phoned reception on two separate occasions about this), no bin liner was put into the toilet bin on one day… - sparrows frequently fly in and help themselves to food in the restaurant. This could be easily fixed with an entrance door which automatically closes after someone walks through, and can be locked when the restaurant is closed - long queues for drinks and food (due to not having enough staff) Overall, the staff work really hard, and our stay was enjoyable, but I don’t think we’d return to this hotel. We’ve stayed in better four star hotels for less money.
