A 10-minute walk from the train station + Flixbus stop will take you to this small hotel on a side street, just at the outskirt of the old Linz.  My basic room on the first floor faced the street (reasonably quiet at night). It came with a single bed and a table & chair. The bathroom seemed to have been made from a large closet but was adequate with towels, soap and blow dryer. Everything was clean. Bed was comfortable and there was an extra blanket. Wifi was a bit weak but it worked. No fridge. Breakfast was offered($) but I did not take it. Not far, you can find a couple of grocery stores.  So, everything you need at a very reasonable rate with polite & welcoming staff.

The Wilder Mann is well placed for both the station and the central area of Linz with good public transport connections at hand. The Wilder Mann is well placed for both the station and the central area of Linz with good public transport connections at hand. Reception is friendly and helpful, breakfast ample choice and good value. My room was spacious, clean and comfortable but despite a shower had no toilet. There are plenty at hand and they are clean and well sourced, one was right next door but I was a little surprised. Likewise being on the third floor with no lift. Hard to fault in other respects but, as another review states, it is really a guest house in nature and not a hotel in the accepted sense. Free wifi is a little patchy upstairs.

I stayed at the Hotel Wilder Mann for two nights in March 2016. The room has old, but functional furniture. Shared WC was clean. Had a sink in the room. Free WIFI worked well in the room. Railway station is in walking distance. Neighbourhood not the best. paid 31,- EUR per night and got good value … Mere

Well located close to the railway station and town centre, but quite basic - really a glorified hostel/guest house. It is quite austere, but was clean. Well located close to the railway station and town centre, but quite basic - really a glorified hostel/guest house. It is quite austere, but was clean. We had a room with private bathroom which was very spacious but with no extras (e.g. kettle or tea/coffee making area). The reception staff were helpful and friendly, but reception time is restricted (beware if your check-in is after 7 pm). There is a washing machine /drier available at a reasonable price. I thought it was a little overpriced for what we got - Euro 190 for 2 nights double room w/ bathroom incldg. extra bed charge.
