We travelled to the Blue Lagoon Village in May 2024 as a family of four - two adults, one 3-year-old and one 10 month old. The hotel itself is a village – it is sprawling, but they do a good job of making sure everything is accessible for everyone. We only used the golf buggy service a few times, the rest of the time we walked everywhere which was fine, even with two young kids. There are loads of different facilities and they do a brilliant job of keeping everything clean and tidy, it was quite windy while we were there, but they still managed to keep rubbish which was being blown around to a minimum! There were two points which really made this holiday special for us. Firstly, their approach to allergies. Our son is allergic to both gluten and dairy, they really make him quite ill. We spoke to guest relations on our first day and they made sure every restaurant we visited (and the gelataria) had a meal ready for him at a specific time. This was excellent and he was able to enjoy a holiday with no adverse reactions to food, this made a massive difference to us. A special mention goes to Ali and Irdil from the Ocean/Italian restaurants. They remembered him every time we saw them and made sure his ‘special’ food was prepared without question. Irdil also brought us a bottle of sparkling wine for our anniversary at lunch one day. Secondly, the entertainment team, they do the shows and lots of activities during the day. Before we had children we never really got involved in this side of hotels. However, this team, made my son’s holiday so special. He had his face painted every night, played mini golf with them multiple times and went to the mini disco they run every night (which our 10-month-old also loved). A special mention has to go to Mina, Malena and Lorenzo. Despite working so hard with everything they have going on; they always went out of their way to have a chat and give a hug to a 3-year-old which made all the difference to him. A couple of points for improvement: Just stock the fridges in the rooms with waters and a couple of beers each day. The best all inclusive resorts on the Greek islands do this. It keeps everyone happy and hydrated. The Bbq restaurant is an interesting idea where you cook your own food, yet it neither feels a bit in between as you still must wait for waiters etc. (the service was the worst at this restaurant, and the slow cooking made it awkward with the kids). Why don’t you let people pour their own drinks (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) to remove the service issue and maybe let people choose their food which is then cooked in front of them? It might feel a bit more like a unique experience. Overall, a brilliant hotel which we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Thank you for our stay.

Our room was clean and spacious. We were worried the location was too out of the way but after familiarising ourselves with the site it was very manageable and even a handy place to be. When you get around the site, the cleaning staff work hard to keep it very clean and tidy, the toilets are maintained regularly and they have free to take water bottles at all bars throughout opening times which I thought was perfect. If you need a bit of help getting around, you can get a golf cart to ping you around easily enough. The games room is surprisingly expensive and disappointing at €2 a game or pool, for example. This was a flop for us. There are so many pools to choose from, they are all cold but this is refreshing from the heat. They are clean and do not leave you smelling of chlorine in the sun! The evening entertainment was of good quality and good fun. The entertainment staff really put the effort in with the kids and its not just in their nights work, it's all through the day. The noise of the shows may keep some kids up (it goes on until 2230ish), but ours were out like a light after their days in the sun and loved seeing the hotel mascot, Leo the lion. I have seen some criticism of the food but in my experience of buffet dining, it's a very good standard. Drinks service can sometimes be absolutely on point and sometimes you can be in a complete service black hole. There are always bars to walk to and self resolve this. My Greek is absolutely terrible but I did try to order drinks in Greek, the bar and waiting staff work tremendously hard over incredibly long days and I think a bit of courtesy can go a long way. Well done to 99% of them who work their socks off and really made a positive impact on the holiday. I've got nothing but respect for their positive attitude and stamina. There are three a la carte restaurants included in the package on top of the buffet restaurants which you must book. The Chinese restaurant was lovely, and the greeting by all staff, particularly the manager, was warm and welcoming. We all enjoyed the food and would have come again if we were allowed. I would not recommend adventure bbq for families. You will be required to be away from your table at cooking stations which struggle for temperature, taking a very long time. When we left some items cooking for a moment, another guest was good enough to steal our food. You have to share grills with all guests, with no supervision by the staff. There are buffet self service items such as chips which are stone cold. All the staff seemed miserable, and our particular waiting staff was incredibly unwelcoming. They had lost our reservation and on confirming on my hotel app the time and date, they tried to seat our party of 5 at a 3 person table. After that, even pouring a drink seemed like too much work. Whilst this was a god awful customer service experience, it is not the mark of the rest of the hotel. I recommend skipping this restaurant. The Italian restaurant was our final a la carte option to attend and absolutely returned to form. It had a wide variety of very good food and very attentive staff. We really enjoyed saving this as our final meal and we were not disappointed. I would recommend this hotel for families, it was competitively priced and only a short shuttle from the airport (c. 15 mins). It has clean facilities, friendly staff and a massive selection of food to enjoy. There is a decent sized cocktail menu which includes mocktails for the little ones.

We’ve just returned from our ten night holiday as a family of 4 and we had an amazing holiday. This hotel provides for everyone! Don’t let the negative comment stop you from booking. There’s so many pools that the kids never got bored there was always something to do and every one of them were spotless! Yes food can be repetitive in all inclusive hotels but we never struggled with finding something to eat here, I don’t eat meat and the amount of vegetarian options was great I didn’t struggle once! The dessert shop was amazing our kids took full advantage of the waffles and crepes and still talking about it now! Drinks at the bar were nice, the sex on the beach cocktail was very strong, we wasn’t a fan of the beer they served but that’s just preference asides from that the bar staff and the servers around the pool were all great. Rooms are clean and well kept, maid was in every day making beds and clean towels, and the hotel is spotless. The buggies were great and the kids loved them to get to auqaland. Our kids did the kid club and loved it,the girls that run it were great with the kids! As a honest review there were a few minor things that weren’t perfect, the shop on site was ridiculously expensive, we actually didn’t purchase a few things because of the ridiculous price. The entertainment wasn’t for us but again personal choice and the only other thing I can critique is the hotel isnt close to any shops or local town so if you like to have a walk at night to shops or the local village that’s not possible. This hotel is amazing if you’ve got children, it felt safe to allow the children to have a bit of freedom and very relaxing for us adults! I would recommend it to anyone who wants an easily holiday with the kids, close to the airport and just easy, all staff worked so hard and just made the holiday so enjoyable! Don’t listen to the negative comments, you can’t go wrong with this hotel!!! X

Food - consistent but not a high standard. A lot of fatty cuts of meat mixed in. Not a huge range of options available and options rarely vary day to day. Desserts however were delicious, fresh fruit always available but again, limited options nothing more exotic like melons/berries and other fruit options were just tinned fruit. Allergen information cards were a good addition and informative but regularly missing on various dishes. Crepes waffles and ice cream available poolside were fantastic. Beach bar and a couple of pool bars offered toasties and hot dogs which were average. A la carte - booking system was easy but limited availability on times and no additional information on the app. Strongly recommend booking through guest relations. A la carte Chinese - by far the best experience, food was delicious, lots of options. Mains had to be ordered but arrived quickly and hot. Can order as many main courses as desired (so we were told). Staff were extremely friendly, especially Paul who was excellent and should give a masterclass to other restaurant staff on how to provide a 5 star experience. A la carte Italian - poor service, poor food. Partner has a milk allergy and there was 1 option on the entire starter, main and dessert menu that she could eat. Staff were rushed and inattentive. A la carte Adventure BBQ - this is a self-cook a la carte experience. Only available booking was for 20:30 and we booked 4 days in advance. The staff turn the grills off at 21:00 leaving us only 30 minutes to arrive, get our drinks, understand the concept and cook all of the food my family wanted to eat for the duration of our visit. This was mentioned for the first time at approx 20:50 and we had no prior warning meaning the whole experience was extremely rushed and the staff were unbothered at our frustration and just kept saying ‘it’s policy’. I approached guest relations regarding this frustrating evening and they just said that if you book it through them then they tell you it closes at 21:00 but if you book it through the app, which we were encouraged to do by reception, then you receive no additional information. This could have been a great fun experience but was tainted by the rushed evening. Housekeeping - very poor, regularly missed our room and even when they did clean it, towels were not replaced leaving us with only our wet pool towels to use in the evening. Phoned reception for more towels and they took about 90 minutes to arrive. We made do with our damp pool towels and were already showered are ready to leave by the time they got there. The outdoor terrace area that led to our room was littered with cups and plates that someone had left out for days and had ants crawling all over it. Floor outside our room was sticky and dirty. A random dirty cot was dumped outside of our room half way through the holiday and never moved. More concerning however, on a cloudier day, my family and I spent a few hour in the afternoon in the room whilst the children napped and we had the red do not disturb sign on the door. To our surprise, a housekeeper walked straight in whilst I was also naked and when I asked why they just said that they thought no one was in here and it startled the children to see a random stranger walk in their room. Facilities - Restaurants - see food above - restaurant staff were keen to get you seated and take a drinks order but following this it was always difficult to get another drink so ended up going to the bar myself a few times. Cutlery and table cloths were always clean and high chairs always available. A major issue for us was the cat infestation. At every restaurant including the a la carte there were street cats roaming around your feet whether you were inside or outside dining and they were waiting for you to drop food. They looked dirty and some even had infected wounds. Staff weren’t bothered by them even when we highlighted that it was an issue. Other guests would pet and feed them which only encouraged their presence. Definitely not expected at a “five star” resort. All the food stops at 9pm including room service so no snacks/later night options if you did get peckish! Bars - bars were efficient, the cocktail bar in the plaza opposite the Italian restaurant was by far the best. Friendly staff and live music almost every night. Limited seating there but worth being first to get a seat. Pool bar waiting staff were hit and miss. Sometimes we’d order a drink and not receive it at all or with a 30 minute wait. Advise you just go to the bar yourself if you’re thirsty. Pools - very cold, not suitable for babies, we even took a wet suit for our 2 year old following other reviews of the cold pools but his lips were blue with a few mins of being in. Somehow the baby pool was the coldest. Other than that, good selection of pools, some busy and some very quiet to relax by. One swim up bar in far side of complex away from the bulk of the residence. Never an issue getting a sunbed at any pool. Beach - average, sand and sunbeds. Cabanas are outdated and weathered. We wanted to hire one but after seeing them in person we changed our mind. Gym/indoor - good gym facilities, indoor pool was slightly warmer than the outdoor pools but small and on a cloudy day very quickly became overcrowded. Adventure land - good for young kids but freezing cold pools. Shop - extortionate. No prices anywhere listed so you don’t find out how much anything is until you take it to the till. Can buy anything with card payments except for cigarettes that have to be cash. Staff - hit and miss. Some really lovely staff that work hard and others are unbothered and just look like they want to go home. Entertainment - good, animation team were friendly but not pushy. Good range of activities throughout the day. Evening shows were good. Location - 15-20 minute coach trip from airport but nothing surrounding the hotel complex. Very isolated but there is a shuttle bus to the local town and car hire onsite. Other - staff travel in golf buggies around site and some are very quick especially down the steep hills. Be careful when with children as at times it felt unsafe when they came flying round the corner. All in all it was an okay stay, we wouldn’t return which is a shame as it has the potential to be a 5 star resort with the facilities available but just lacked in many areas making it far from 5 stars.
