The Carlton is famous for hosting movie stars from around the world during the Film Festival. More Famously, the hotel was the central location for the Alfred Hitchcock film 'to catch a thief' starring Grace Kelly and Cary Grant and it was while staying at the Carlton that Grace Kelly met Prince Rainier of Monaco.
