“Great hotel”

I stayed here on 2 separate occasions and loved it. Fantastic location, comfortable rooms and helpful staff. Our rooms had lovely balconies with sunbeds and table and great views out towards the Marina on both occasions. Beds were comfortable and showers great. Highly recommended

Great location in the Gothic quarter and very near the beautiful marina. The city tour buses stop nearby. Hotel is clean and comfortable but be aware the aircon is turned off at the beginning of November and the heating turned on, so our bedroom was too hot for us. Great location in the Gothic quarter and very near the beautiful marina. The city tour buses stop nearby. Hotel is clean and comfortable but be aware the aircon is turned off at the beginning of November and the heating turned on, so our bedroom was too hot for us. Opening the door to the Juliet balcony admitted the mosquitos. Remember to ask at reception for the plug if you want a bath! Although they maintain they have high environmental credentials, our towels were changed too often.

I stayed at the Hotel Del Mar with a male friend. We booked this 5 months ago, and I requested a twin room then as we are not a couple. We arrived about midday, so before the check in time. I again said I requested a twin room and was told it was not a problem. We left our bags and went out to explore. We returned at about 5pm to check in. We went to our first room and found it was a double. My friend went downstairs to explain we requested a twin and he got told we could move to one tomorrow. I then went into the bathroom and it was disgusting. There was something like black soot all over the floor, toilet, shower tray and bits of silver foil. So I went downstairs and showed them the photos and videos I took and they moved us, into another double, but it was clean. I contacted EasyJet, who I booked through and they contacted the hotel. She came back to me very quickly and said we would be moved the following day, to a port view room and that we would have chocolates or wine in our room as an apology. The following day we did move into a port view room with a little balcony. The chocolates/wine never materialised even though I asked where it was on Monday, the receptionist knew nothing about it but said he’d look into it. The good points of the hotel is the location. Close to the Gothic Quarter, Barcelona beach and El Born. Plenty of restaurants and bars close to the hotel. There are bus stops right outside and a Metro stop about 2 mins walk (Barceloneta stop). The rooms are a decent size and there is a good shower. As a woman, I take my own toiletries, but there was an all in one gel/shampoo in the bathroom. The twin room was kept very clean and towels were changed daily (although not requested). It was a little worrying seeing homeless people sleeping/living right next to the hotel. I understand this is a problem across the world, but if you’re a solo female traveller, this might have caused you concerns and f returning later at night. Although by our last day, it looked as though the cardboard areas has been removed.

Good for getting around Barcelona. Close to port and Aquarium. Friendly helpful staff. With my 11 year old grandson and we enjoyed our stay.We had a room at the front with a balcony. However the room was hot and the air conditioner was not working. Leaving the window open was not an option as there was too much noise. However the room was clean and functional.
