I stayed at the Clarendon apartments in Brushfield Street for four weeks in nov-dec 2012 with my husband and 5 month old baby daughter. Our trip was a mixture of business (my husband was working in London) and a family holiday (I was at home with our daughter). The location was fantastic, right above the Spitafields markets and just a couple of minutes walk from the tube and buses in Liverpool Street Station. The outlook of the apartment was lovely, the markets out one side and a lovely London Street out the other side. We stayed in one of the 2 bedroom apartments which we found clean and comfortable, and the heating was excellent. There were two bathrooms, with a bath tub in one of them. The shower in the en-suite bathroom was somewhat small (tiny!), but functional. There was plenty of cupboard space for us to unpack all of our luggage and feel at home. The bed in the master bedroom was huge and extremely comfortable. The apartment was clean and the weekly housekeeping was efficient and effective. One week we did have some issues with the housekeeping (wrong sized sheet on the bed and not enough towels left) which was resolved swiftly. The kitchen contained the essentials - plates, bowls, cutlery, glasses, tea pot, knives, salt and pepper mills, utensils, frying pans, very basic saucepans etc. A pack was left in the kitchen with the essentials to get through one night - pasta, pasta sauce, cereal, some biscuits etc - which was a lovely touch and made us feel welcome. We were provided with enough dishwasher tablets for our stay however had to buy additional laundry tablets as we were only provided with 10 or so and we were washing every day given we were traveling with a baby! There is a small Sainsburys and Tesco just a couple of minutes walk with a larger Tesco about 5 minutes away at Liverpool Street Station. Otherwise there are countless take-away options just below the apartment in the Spitafields markets. Some things to note on the negative side: *the apartment can be quite noisy on Thursday and Friday nights. This didn't bother us as we are used to noise from living in the centre of Sydney, however it is worth noting. *Free wi-fi was provided however I was unable to connect via my iPhone or iPad. When we contacted customer service about this issue we were advised that there are often problems connecting with Apple devices, however the problem was not resolved. *the apartments are up 2 flights of stairs and there are no lifts, which wasn't ideal for us as we had a heavy pram which we were using every day with our baby. It did get a bit difficult carrying the pram up and down the stairs multiple times every day. It would have been great if we could have been advised of this when we were booking the apartment - we booked a cot and a highchair so it would have been obvious that we were travelling with a baby. *the kitchen could have benefited from a baking dish, a bigger sized saucepan and the cooking knives need to be sharpened. On the whole we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would very happily stay there again, however probably not if travelling with a pram.

The flat is modern and in a good location near Liverpool street station. It was missing a few utensils some of which I bought and left behind. But the really irritating thing is the noise. People walk and talk on three sides of this first floor flat day and night. Oops, I exaggerated. Between 1am and 5 am it is quiet. I recommend this flat if you have good ear plugs or are deaf.
